PEGKAP-NY started its operation with the aid and support of a team of children’s parents with I.D. with the cooperation of the Mental Health Centre from 1963, and it addressed individuals of school age that were mostly occupied at Stoupatheio until their 18 years of age. In 1978, in order for those individuals to continue their training, the unit is established in Chalandri in the form of occupation, under the funding of the Ministry of Health & Care. In 1982, the second unit begins its operation in Galatsi, and in 1995 the third one in Anoixi. The total number of I.D. individuals that were monitored daily was 180. From 2012 in Chalandri, and in the newly built premises, the Supported Independent Living began its operations for 6 individuals and from 2016 and on, the Early Intervention & Consulting Centre. From 2017 and on, both in Chalandri and Anoixi, Day Care Centers (DOCC) are in operation, funded by NFSR Programs.

In a national level, PEGKAP-NY:
Is under control of the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family Affairs and Attica Region
 Is a member of the Greek Federation of Parents & Guardians on I.D. Individuals
 Cooperates with all Social Governmental as well as Local Governmental Services
